November + December 2020 Wrap Up

Since I conveniently forgot to do my monthly wrap up at the end of November, I decided to combine the both November and December into one post.

Between the two months, I read a lot and was able to surpass my original reading goal by 10 books which is something I don’t think I’ve ever done. I owe it all to my new found love: audiobooks. Without audiobooks I don’t think I would have read as much as I did.

Onto the books I read!

Layoverland

Layoverland by Gabby Noone: ★★

I decided to read this on the recommendation of my sister and this will probably be the last time I ever take a recommendation from her. I didn’t really like the main character. I thought she was an annoying, whiny teenager. I don’t really know why I even finished it.

Harrow the Ninth (The Locked Tomb, #2)

Harrow the Ninth by Tamysn Muir: ★★★

After reading Gideon in October I decided to continue on with Harrow in November and I’m glad I did. I rated both books the same but I liked Harrow a lot more than the first book. I don’t ever know what’s going on though and I think that’s part of the charm of the book. I don’t know how I’m going to wait 2022 for Alecto but oh well.

If We Were Villains

If We Were Villains by M.L Rio: ★★

I picked this book up on a whim because I had heard good things about it and who doesn’t love a good dark mystery book. I was very disappointed. I found the main character super annoying and kind of a dick. I also think my dislike for theater kids jumped out and made me dislike this book a lot more than I thought it would…

October 2020 Wrap Up

I’m baaacccckkkk with the only post that you seem to get from me nowadays. It’s not that I don’t have reviews written. I do! I’m just terrible at actually typing them up into something that is coherent and then posting them. I need an assistant who’ll take my handwritten sticky note reviews and will put them together for me. That would be nice.

I did really well this month reading wise! So I’m extremely proud of myself. I read a total of 8 books and the majority of them have quickly become new favorites of mine.

Without further ado here are all the books I read in October!

Ninth House (Alex Stern #1)

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: ★★★★

This was such a fun read for October and I’m so glad I read it in the spooky month. I listened to the audiobook and while the beginning was a little slow, it picked up eventually and soon I was falling in love with the characters. I need the second book ASAP.

The Rage of Dragons (The Burning, #1)

The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter: ★★★★

This book was so good and I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it!!! It’s such an intense and amazing fantasy. The second book comes out soon and I can’t wait to dive into it.

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon: ★★★

I really wanted to like this book and I did, just not as much as I had hoped to. I still want to continue with rest of the series and I’m hoping that as I continue reading I’ll like it more!

September 2020 Wrap Up

Guess who’s back again with the only consistent post they write?? If you guessed me then you’re absolutely right!

Monthly wrap up posts are so easy to write and they don’t take me that long which is why I keep writing them every month even if I don’t post anything in between them.

I am in the middle of writing my review of The Burning God though and I do want to have that out before the book comes out next month. I have about half of it written which is honestly how all my book reviews are right now.

Onto the books I read in the month of September!

The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1)

The Alchemyst by Michael Scott: ★★★

First up is a book from my childhood that I wanted to reread. This was sweet and cute. It brought back a lot of memories of how much I loved to read as a child. I’m definitely going to continue with the series.

Jade War (The Green Bone Saga, #2)

Jade War by Fonda Lee: ★★★★

I love this series so much and I don’t know how I’m going to wait for the last book to come out. There were a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and the last 100 pages of the book were so intense I almost started crying.

August 2020 Wrap Up

It seems like monthly wrap ups are the only blog posts I’m consistently writing. This is kind of late though and that has to do a lot of with the fact that I don’t currently have a laptop. It’s in a shop right now and I’m hoping that it can be fixed. If it doesn’t I might buy a new one or I might wait until my birthday next year.

I read five books this month but I still haven’t caught up to my reading goal for the year which is really annoying. I’m currently three books behind and I’m hoping that this holiday weekend I can finally catch up!

The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury: ★★★

This was a cute standalone that I listened to while I was driving to and from work. I have a review of it in progress and hopefully I publish it soon!

The Dragon Republic by R.F Kuang: ★★★★

I loved this book so much!! I honestly think it left me in a slump. I gave TPW three stars because I thought it was complicated for me to understand but when I read TDR I was blown away. It all came together for me suddenly and I loved it so much.

July 2020 Wrap Up

Here I am with another wrap up where I didn’t read as many books as I had hoped. After listening to both the Brown sisters books, I haven’t really been in a mood to continue reading. I need to pick up books physically as I can finish a physical book much faster than I can finish an audiobook.

I did finish four books this month which to me seems like a really good amount.

The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)

The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson:  ★★★

I’ve had this book on my TBR for ages and I finally thought it was time to read it. I picked up the audiobook from my library and I enjoyed it. It was interesting and I definitely felt like continuing the series.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1)

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert: ★★★★

I’ve actually already written my review for this book and you can find it here. I absolutely adored this book and it’s definitely a book I can see myself rereading when I get sad. I need to get myself a physical copy.

May 2020 Wrap Up

Another month has passed us by and I still don’t know what I’m doing with my life. I hope that everyone is doing well. I know that I’m not doing as well as I would like to be but it’s okay. I just need to relax and remind myself that everything is going to be fine.

I graduated from university this month and within two weeks I’ve found a job. I’m a little nervous about starting this new job tomorrow but I’m hoping that things will go smoothly and I will be able to do a good job.

My reading this month was pretty great. I’m currently on track to complete my reading goal. I’m at 22/55 and it’s been nice. I read a pretty great variety of books this month and I enjoyed all of them a decent amount.

Dark Shores (Dark Shores, #1)

Dark Shores by Danielle L Jensen: ★★★★★

I absolutely loved this book. I found it amazing and incredible. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it. It has an amazing cast of characters as well as a riveting storyline with wonderful world building. It’s definitely become one of my favorite fantasy books. I’m currently reading the sequel as well

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab: ★★★★

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a sweet book that explored life in a fascinating way. You can read my full review here.

March and April 2020 Wrap Up

Wow it’s been a while since I last posted. I didn’t plan to stop writing reviews. It just seemed to happen. I had been posting pretty regularly even going so far as to schedule posts in advance but since everything with COVID-19 all that planning seemed to go down hill.

Social distancing was fun for a little bit but now it’s not and I hope things can go back to the way they were soon. In the past two and half months I haven’t read as many books as I would like but the books I did read I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m currently one book behind in my reading goal for the year but I don’t think it will be that hard to get back on track.

Now onto the 11 books I read between March and April! The majority of those 11 I read in March, 9 of them to be exact. The other 2 I read in April.

Bone Crier's Moon (Bone Grace, #1)

Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie: ★★★

I enjoyed this book not as much as I had hoped I would but it was still decent. I do think that I’m going to read the sequel when it comes out. I have a full review right over here if you want to check it out!

The Raven and the Dove (The Raven and the Dove, #1)

The Raven and The Dove by Kaitlyn Davis: ★★★

This was another book that I had higher hopes for. It was a good read but nothing mind blowing. I have my full review up here.

February 2020 Wrap Up

Another month has flown by and I am in shock. I can’t believe that we’re already in March. My reading hasn’t been that good this year but spring break starts next week! Hopefully I’ll be able to read a lot more then. I have been reading a lot of ARCs though lately which has been fun.

Onto the books I read this month! I once again only read three books this month but they were all pretty enjoyable which I’m calling a sucess.

Daisy Jones & The Six

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid: ★★★★

I really enjoyed this book! I don’t have a review of it up yet but hopefully I’ll have one soon. I listened to the audiobook which I’m glad I did as it made the book more enjoyable. I can’t wait for the Amazon show to come out!

Of Curses and Kisses (St. Rosetta's Academy, #1)

Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon: ★★★

A cute sweet read. I had received an ARC of this and I’m glad that I read it. It was not anything special but it was an overall enjoyable read. You can check out my full review of it here.

House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City, #1)

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas: ★★★★★

This was so freaking good!!! I absolutely loved it and I’m so glad I was able to get my hands on an ARC of it. I’m hoping to have my full review of it up tomorrow before the release on Tuesday so keep your eye out for that.

And that’s it for February! My goal for March is to read at least 5 books so that I don’t fall too behind on my reading goal of 55 for this year. How’s your reading goal going?
