November + December 2020 Wrap Up

Since I conveniently forgot to do my monthly wrap up at the end of November, I decided to combine the both November and December into one post.

Between the two months, I read a lot and was able to surpass my original reading goal by 10 books which is something I don’t think I’ve ever done. I owe it all to my new found love: audiobooks. Without audiobooks I don’t think I would have read as much as I did.

Onto the books I read!

Layoverland by Gabby Noone: ★★

I decided to read this on the recommendation of my sister and this will probably be the last time I ever take a recommendation from her. I didn’t really like the main character. I thought she was an annoying, whiny teenager. I don’t really know why I even finished it.

Harrow the Ninth (The Locked Tomb, #2)

Harrow the Ninth by Tamysn Muir: ★★★

After reading Gideon in October I decided to continue on with Harrow in November and I’m glad I did. I rated both books the same but I liked Harrow a lot more than the first book. I don’t ever know what’s going on though and I think that’s part of the charm of the book. I don’t know how I’m going to wait 2022 for Alecto but oh well.

If We Were Villains

If We Were Villains by M.L Rio: ★★

I picked this book up on a whim because I had heard good things about it and who doesn’t love a good dark mystery book. I was very disappointed. I found the main character super annoying and kind of a dick. I also think my dislike for theater kids jumped out and made me dislike this book a lot more than I thought it would…

October 2020 Wrap Up

I’m baaacccckkkk with the only post that you seem to get from me nowadays. It’s not that I don’t have reviews written. I do! I’m just terrible at actually typing them up into something that is coherent and then posting them. I need an assistant who’ll take my handwritten sticky note reviews and will put them together for me. That would be nice.

I did really well this month reading wise! So I’m extremely proud of myself. I read a total of 8 books and the majority of them have quickly become new favorites of mine.

Without further ado here are all the books I read in October!

Ninth House (Alex Stern #1)

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: ★★★★

This was such a fun read for October and I’m so glad I read it in the spooky month. I listened to the audiobook and while the beginning was a little slow, it picked up eventually and soon I was falling in love with the characters. I need the second book ASAP.

The Rage of Dragons (The Burning, #1)

The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter: ★★★★

This book was so good and I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it!!! It’s such an intense and amazing fantasy. The second book comes out soon and I can’t wait to dive into it.

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon: ★★★

I really wanted to like this book and I did, just not as much as I had hoped to. I still want to continue with rest of the series and I’m hoping that as I continue reading I’ll like it more!

September 2020 Wrap Up

Guess who’s back again with the only consistent post they write?? If you guessed me then you’re absolutely right!

Monthly wrap up posts are so easy to write and they don’t take me that long which is why I keep writing them every month even if I don’t post anything in between them.

I am in the middle of writing my review of The Burning God though and I do want to have that out before the book comes out next month. I have about half of it written which is honestly how all my book reviews are right now.

Onto the books I read in the month of September!

The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1)

The Alchemyst by Michael Scott: ★★★

First up is a book from my childhood that I wanted to reread. This was sweet and cute. It brought back a lot of memories of how much I loved to read as a child. I’m definitely going to continue with the series.

Jade War (The Green Bone Saga, #2)

Jade War by Fonda Lee: ★★★★

I love this series so much and I don’t know how I’m going to wait for the last book to come out. There were a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and the last 100 pages of the book were so intense I almost started crying.

August 2020 Wrap Up

It seems like monthly wrap ups are the only blog posts I’m consistently writing. This is kind of late though and that has to do a lot of with the fact that I don’t currently have a laptop. It’s in a shop right now and I’m hoping that it can be fixed. If it doesn’t I might buy a new one or I might wait until my birthday next year.

I read five books this month but I still haven’t caught up to my reading goal for the year which is really annoying. I’m currently three books behind and I’m hoping that this holiday weekend I can finally catch up!

The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury: ★★★

This was a cute standalone that I listened to while I was driving to and from work. I have a review of it in progress and hopefully I publish it soon!

The Dragon Republic by R.F Kuang: ★★★★

I loved this book so much!! I honestly think it left me in a slump. I gave TPW three stars because I thought it was complicated for me to understand but when I read TDR I was blown away. It all came together for me suddenly and I loved it so much.

January 2020 Wrap Up

Wow I can’t believe that January is already over. I’ve finished the first month of classes for my last semester of university. It’s crazy to me that after this I won’t be in school. I’m so nervous about applying for jobs and trying to find something that I enjoy.

I did read a little this month. I read three books in total which I think is pretty good for how busy of a month it was. I’m currently reading a bunch of books and I need to post reviews of the books that I’ve already finished. I still have one book review I need to do for a book from 2019. Hopefully I’ll get that up soon.

Now onto the books that I’ve read so far this year.

Infinity Son (Infinity Cycle, #1)

Infinity Son by Adam Silvera: ★★

This book ended up disappointing me. I had an ARC of it and I read it before it came out this month and it just wasn’t what I expected. I don’t think Adam Silvera is an author I enjoy.

Windwitch (The Witchlands, #2)

Windwitch by Susan Dennard: ★★★★★

I’m so glad I finally continued with this series! It was so good and I’m really in love with all of the characters I can’t wait for the next book.

Bloodwitch (The Witchlands, #3)

Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard: ★★★★★

This series I think is becoming one of my favorites and I need the next book now. The characters are all so amazing. I will talk more about them in my upcoming reviews of the two books.

And those are all the books I read this month! I don’t know if February will be any better but we’ll see. I think I might start setting monthly TBRs for myself but I don’t feel like I’ll follow through with those so I don’t know if that’s a definite thing. One thing I do want to work in these upcoming months is starting my own Etsy pin store but that’s been in a difficult work in progress.

Let me know if there are any book series you would want pins from!

December 2019 Wrap Up

This is a couple days late but that’s because my laptop is currently out of commission. It’s getting repaired right now and I hope to get it back next week which will hopefully allow me to start posting again.

I only read two books this month but I’m okay with that. I did complete my reading goal of 50 books and I ended the year having read a total of 53 books which I think is pretty good. I set my reading goal of 2020 for 55 books and I’m hopeful that I will complete it.

Loveboat, Taipei (Loveboat, Taipei, #1)

Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen: ★★★★

I really loved this book. It was such an amazing book and it actually comes out next week so I definitely recommend picking it up and giving it a read! I’m going to have a review of it posted tomorrow.

Supernova (Renegades, #3)

Supernova by Marissa Meyer: ★★★★★

This book was so good!!! I have reviews of the first two books here and here. You can see that I enjoyed those books but I didn’t give them 5 stars. However this book completely blew me away. The ending is so amazing that I can’t help but want more.

And those were the two books that I read to finish out the year. I hope that everyone had a great holidays and wonderful beginning to the New Year!

November 2019 Wrap Up

I really enjoyed all of the books that I read this month. I ended up completing my reading challenge again after having raised it to 50 books. I had been a bit hesitant about raising but I’m so happy that I completed it! This month I reread a lot of books and that was good for me. It made me excited about reading!

The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air, #1)

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black: ★★★★★

My first reread of the month. I was rereading the whole series in anticipation for The Queen of Nothing that was being released this month. I loved reading this book again. It was everything I ever want in a book. I actually rewrote my review for it which you can find here.

The Foxhole Court (All for the Game, #1)

The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic: ★★★★★

I first read this series three years ago and I loved it so much. I’m happy to say that after rereading it, I still love it a lot. It’s such a great series and I highly recommend it. Check out my full review of it here.

October 2019 Wrap Up

I didn’t read as much this month as I did last month but it was still a good reading month for me as I enjoyed most of the books that I read. I changed my reading goal to 50 and I’m currently at 43 books. I’m hoping that I can actually complete this new reading challenge but I’m not too confident.

Mooncakes by Wendy Xu & Suzanne Walker: ★★★

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I really enjoyed. I thought it was cute and the art was absolutely gorgeous. I want to pick up a finished copy so I can see it even better. You can find a full review here.

Yes No Maybe So

Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli & Aisha Saeed: ★★★

I received an ARC of this from Edelweiss. It doesn’t come out until February but I was in a contemporary mood so I decided to give it a chance. It was okay. There were some parts I enjoyed and some parts I didn’t. A full review will be up next week.

September 2019 Wrap Up

I read a lot of books this month. This month was the most books I’ve read this year which is honestly really surprising to me. It didn’t feel like I read that many books but I guess I did.

I also completed my reading goal of 30 books this year. I decided to change it to 45 books so let’s see if I can complete this new goal as well.

Daimon (Covenant, #0.5)

Daimon by Jennifer L Armentrout: ★★★

This is a novella prequel to the first book Half-Blood which I also read this month. You can see what I thought about it in my review here.

Tiger Queen

Tiger Queen by Annie Sullivan: ★★★★

I received an ARC of this book and I really enjoyed. I liked that it was a standalone since I don’t really read many of them. Here is my full review of it.

August 2019 Wrap Up

This month was a good reading month for the number of books I read. However I didn’t like that many of the books I read which was really disappointing. I was also supposed to be reading books for N.E.W.T’s readathon and I only read one book out of the seven I was supposed to read which is kind of disappointing. I won’t be doing a wrap up post for the N.E.W.T’s for this reason.

Overall I read 5 books this month and I’m one book away from completing my reading goal for the year which I’m excited about.

Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1)

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: ★★★★★

This was one of the books that I picked to read for the N.E.W.T’s and I really enjoyed it. I’m hoping to get to the sequels soon.

Grim Lovelies (Grim Lovelies, #1)

Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd: ★★

This book was alright. It’s not something I particularly enjoyed but I didn’t hate it.
