March and April 2020 Wrap Up

Wow it’s been a while since I last posted. I didn’t plan to stop writing reviews. It just seemed to happen. I had been posting pretty regularly even going so far as to schedule posts in advance but since everything with COVID-19 all that planning seemed to go down hill.

Social distancing was fun for a little bit but now it’s not and I hope things can go back to the way they were soon. In the past two and half months I haven’t read as many books as I would like but the books I did read I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m currently one book behind in my reading goal for the year but I don’t think it will be that hard to get back on track.

Now onto the 11 books I read between March and April! The majority of those 11 I read in March, 9 of them to be exact. The other 2 I read in April.

Bone Crier's Moon (Bone Grace, #1)

Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie: ★★★

I enjoyed this book not as much as I had hoped I would but it was still decent. I do think that I’m going to read the sequel when it comes out. I have a full review right over here if you want to check it out!

The Raven and the Dove (The Raven and the Dove, #1)

The Raven and The Dove by Kaitlyn Davis: ★★★

This was another book that I had higher hopes for. It was a good read but nothing mind blowing. I have my full review up here.

Saga, Vol. 1

Saga by Brian C Vaughan and Fiona Staples: ★★★★

This was the first graphic novel I’ve read in awhile and I really enjoyed! I’m definitely going to pick up the rest of the series eventually. I hope to have a review up soon!

The Shadows Between Us

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller: ★★★★

This was such a fun book! I actually got to meet the author at an event and she was such a sweetheart. I really enjoyed this book and I was glad it was a standalone. I’ll hopefully have a review up soon…

Spin the Dawn (The Blood of Stars, #1)

Spin The Dawn by Elizabeth Lim: ★★★

I had such high hopes for this book. I was so excited when I read the summary but it ended up not being what I had expected. It was still an enjoyable read just not what I had been hoping for.

The Electric Heir (Feverwake #2)

The Electric Heir by Victoria Lee: ★★★

This is the sequel to The Fever King which I read last year and enjoyed. I had been approved for an ARC of this book and it didn’t quite become a wow book for me. I do think it’s a well written book about a very powerful topic I just think that the genre and material of the book isn’t what I normally read so I didn’t like it that much. You can read more on my thoughts here.

An Enchantment of Ravens

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson: ★★★★

Another really fun book! I’ve had this book on my TBR list for awhile now and I’m really glad I finally picked it up. I thought it was a cute read and made me more interested in Rogerson’s work.

Everything, Everything

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon: ★★★

This was actually a reread for me. I first read this book in 2015 when I was 16 and at that time I gave it 5 stars. My taste has definitely changed since then and while this book was enjoyable it isn’t exactly a 5 star read for me anymore.

Sorcery of Thorns

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson: ★★★★

After reading Rogerson’s first book, I decided to pick up her second one as well and I enjoyed it a lot as well! I think Rogerson does a really good job having a concise story that still has a lot of action and drama. The covers of her books are also amazing.

A Little Life

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara: ★★★★

This book was an emotional ride and it left me emotionally drained as well as feeling my ass had just been kicked. I will have a more in depth review up eventually.

Crown of Feathers (Crown of Feathers, #1)

Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto: ★★★★

Another book I’ve had on my TBR for awhile. It was also a fun read and I’m definitely going to continue on with the series. There were a lot of twists and turns that had me guessing at every second.

I read a lot great books these past two months and I seem to be continuing with that streak in May. Hopefully I’ll finish this month off strong.
